We were fortunate enough to have some of the most brilliant men of the time form our government. It was a well thought out plan that has lasted over 200 years. They took history into account, and I personally think that is one of the most important things government should do to this day. I know, ...history will repeat itself... is over used, but for some reason, people still refuse to accept it. And because of that, it has repeated itself and people can't figure out why. Learn from your mistakes. That is what the founding skeptics did, they looked at mistakes made previously and formed educated, well thought out plans.
Is it perfect? Of course not! But, it has worked for us so far.... :)
As it was and is with the Scots and the Irish - Plaid is simply a way of life.
Hopefully one of your stops on the web for news, economics, links, geo/current politics, commentary, for the conscientious conservative. Progressives/liberals of course welcome and encouraged - a good bit of cognitive dissonance and search for clarity never killed anybody.
I'm an average guy(Carpenter with a lot of opinions)with above average interest in politics, public and foreign policy, economics, new media, faith/Christianity. I'm a skeptical optimist with a reasoned, inquisitive, conservative, realist worldview. I'm certain that my conservative world view was cast at a very young age...I had my mother on the side that was saving human babies from abortion, while on the other hand I had an older sister on the ideological side preoccupied with saving the whales. Some situations when you are young seem complex and difficult to wrap your brain around - this one was not. These conundrums and conflicts in my young life molded me; and time after time confirmed to me that it's crucial that we know-to the best of our abilities- what is right and wrong, and what is good and what is evil.
