ANTARCTIC SEA ICE CYCLES AND GROWS ??!!!

Don't tell Algore, he'll probably stab himself in the heart with a pencil. By the way, does anybody know when his new movie is coming out? I think it's called Unicorns:The Inconvenient Truth
:p
Great video animation...

  1. Ok, I'll take the bait.

Just to make sure we are on the same ice sheet... I know that water starts to freeze at 32*. Do you know that ice starts to melt at 33*? So, if it doesn't get to 32* as much as it used to, I'm sorry, can you refresh my memory?

So, so glad I don't live on any coast! Luckily we don't have to worry here in MN about sea levels rising. Although, it will kind of suck when New Orleans is finally under water for good. They never should have built it to begin with, right? And Miami. They never should have reclaimed that swamp either I suppose.

Hey, I heard the real estate market is opening up in Greenland!

  2. If the Warmists really believe in what they(Algore,et al)are saying, they BETTER start snatching up property in Greenland, because the warming period that gave Greenland it's name...pretty lush boreal forests and all...can happen again (cycles) BUT, we do know that SUV's and coal plants did NOT cause this warming period. AGW-Anthropogenic Global Warming- is predominantly falacy. The more science that comes in, the more Algore sweats in his hemp loafers - we're cooling, and have been for 12 years. Keep reading wattsupwiththat.com (voted #1 science blog 2008) :) Welcome Julie

  3. I am not saying that SUV's and coal are the only reason we are having warming. We are damaging the planet with many more emissions than just gas exhaust and coal. A big contributor was all of the CFC's we let go for way to long. Depleating the Ozone layer is linked to the surface warming we are experiencing now. And, even if we reduce the emmisions that cause the ozone to be depleated, the stratosphere is years behind. So it will continue to get worse, before it gets better. How long ago did we ban CFC's? 1978 the ban was started in a faze out manner.

And, yes the Ozone layer does fluctuate over Antarctica more than anywhere else. Especially in the winter months. When Ozone was first monitored, that hole did not occur. And yes, it does fill in in spring. Since we banned CFC's, the ozone depletion has slowed, but has not stopped. It may be years yet before that occurs.

People complained when the ban was first made. When was the last time you heard someone complain about not being able to have hairspray or styrofoam with CFC's? You don't anymore.

If you think that it doesn't matter that the hole is in the southern part of the southern hemisphere, people and wildlife do live there year round. And in some places on the east coastal area's of Chile, the UV exposure not just unhealthy, it is dangerous.

Rates of skin cancer have rapidly increased. Now we are all supposed to wear sunscreen.

Now ozone depleation and climate change are weakly linked, there have been definite changes in the atmospheric make up that we now have to alter our behavior because of.

I am not saying the planet won't be here, it will. It just won't be able to sustain life as we know it in the future.

I find it interesting that conservative, who think we need to set an example for the world, ie: forcing democratic government modles onto other countries, being the military for the world, being the leaders in everything, including some of the most negative behavior are totally against setting examples of positive behavior.

We have done a few things that have helped out. Recycling is one. Have you ever recycled anything? That alone has helped quite a bit in reduction in waste. It also cuts down on the chemicals needed to create some of the materials required for creating the finished product. In St. Louis Park, if we recycle at least once a month, we get money off our garbage bill. This is a bad thing? Yeah, it is a few extra steps, but it is a basic way of "being green"* that most people do automatically now days.

    * For the record, I hate the term "being green". It smacks of smugness to me for some reason. I hate using it, but I cannot think of a better term.
