This, from a commenter, had the best retort:
"Chomsky has his head so deeply planted in his backside that he will never see daylight. The Tea Party crowd is rising up against a government that is perceived to be growing in its scope and power. They quite rationally believe that the American government is not acting in accordance with the US Constitution and is exercising powers that were reserved solely to the states and to the people. What the right wing in the US wants is for the government to leave us alone. We want to live our lives and either succeed or fail on our own. We identify more with the philosophy of Bastiat than Rousseau. One of our founders said that where the people fear the government there is tyranny, where the government fears the people there is liberty."
