QUOTE O' THE DAY

"Experience should teach us to be most on our guard to protect liberty when the Government's purposes are beneficent. Men born to freedom are naturally alert to repel invasion of their liberty by evil-minded rulers. The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well-meaning but without understanding"
- Justice Louis Brandeis.

QUOTE O' THE DAY

"Diversity of ideas is a great thing, a pillar of a free and enlightened society. No inane scribbling should ever be outlawed, no matter how unpopular. But that doesn't mean every inane scribbling deserves the status and esteem of an argument. Socialism as an economic system has no case. It's been tried a million times. It doesn't work, it steals from people, and it lays waste to both the land and the spirit. Get over it"
-- Lawrence W. Reed.

LOL!: IDIOT POTHEAD QUOTE OF THE DAY

Marijuana activist Marc Emery was released from jail today. He was a guest on John Gormley Live, where he compared the "persecution" of his "culture" by "Europeans" to the civil rights movement, slavery and the Holocaust.

"We've arrested more people for marijuana since 1960 than Stalin sent to the gulags."

QUOTE 'O THE DAY

"When government does, occasionally, work, it works in an elitist fashion. That is, government is most easily manipulated by people who have money and power already. This is why government benefits usually go to people who don't need benefits from government. Government may make some environmental improvements, but these will be improvements for rich bird-watchers. And no one in government will remember that when poor people go bird-watching they do it at Kentucky Fried Chicken."
 -P.J. O'Rourke

QUOTE ~

Ideas cannot be fought except by
means of better ideas. The battle
consists not of opposing, but of
exposing; not of denouncing
but of disproving; not of evading,
but of boldly proclaiming a full,
consistent and radical alternative.
-- Ayn Rand

QUOTE 'O THE DAY

"The happiest people are those who think the most interesting thoughts. Those who decide to use leisure as a means of mental development, who love good music, good books, good pictures, good company, good conversation, are the happiest people in the world. And they are not only happy in themselves, they are the cause of happiness in others."

- William Lyon Phelps

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"The real struggle is between persons who love liberty and persons enthralled with power. A liberty lover refuses to exercise power over others and, therefore, has solid principles upon which he can stand when defending himself against those who would exercise power over him. In contrast, someone enthralled with power – by endorsing its exercise over others – kicks out from beneath his own feet the principles he will need to stand on when the time comes for him to defend himself against the power of those who would force him to submit to their will."
